Table Tennis Club
The Bedford Congress Hall Table Tennis Club started in 2001 as an extension to the Youth Club. 4 youngsters from Youth Club showed an interest in becoming more serious about playing Table Tennis and so the club was formed with the aim of entering a Salvation Army team in the Bedford and District Table Tennis League.
Equipment was purchased with kind donations from a number of organisations and individuals including The Bedfordshire Police Partnership Trust and Crime Beat and Local Government Community Funds. So with the right standard of equipment a team was entered into the league in 2001. An inauguration night for the SA Table Tennis Club was arranged and 3 members of the then British National Team came and demonstrated their skills. A great start to the club. Through a tough inaugural season the enthusiasm of the team was not diminished and they built on their early losses and started to climb up the league. The club now boasts 3 tables and a Robo Training machine which are all in use on the Wednesday training evening. All are welcome to join in and enjoy an evening of table tennis for all ages and standards from complete beginners to more advanced players, come and have some fun and exercise and meet a great group of people. |
