Table Tennis Fellowship (original text slightly modified)
The Bedford Congress Hall Table Tennis Club started in 2001 as an extension to the Youth Club. Four youngsters from Youth Club showed an interest in becoming more serious about playing Table Tennis and so the club was formed with the aim of entering a Salvation Army team in the Bedford and District Table Tennis League. Things have moved on a bit since those early days and the Table Tennis Fellowship has now started on a Tuesday morning between 10 and 12.
Equipment was purchased with kind donations from a number of organisations and individuals including The Bedfordshire Police Partnership Trust and Crime Beat and Local Government Community Funds. So with the right standard of equipment a team was entered into the league in 2001. An inauguration night for the SA Table Tennis Club was arranged and 3 members of the then British National Team came and demonstrated their skills. A great start to the club. The club now boasts 3 tables and a Robo Training machine which are all in use on a Tuesday morning. All are welcome to join in and enjoy an morning of table tennis for all ages and ability from complete beginners to more advanced players, come and have some fun and exercise and meet a great group of people. |
