Tuesday 2nd June - Bob

Barbara gave me a gift of a book for Christmas 2019 entitled "JESUS ALWAYS". It is written by Sarah YOUNG, who, cleverly writes it as if Jesus Himself is talking to you. There are lots of beautiful, challenging and helpful quotations (all from Scripture) for each day. In these days of lock-down, when you switch on the T.V. or Radio or read a newspaper, you can always see---hear---read about how to cope, a lot of it being good advice on diet---exercise--etc.

How about some of the quotes from my book "Jesus Always", which I have found so helpful and inspiring? What you have to remember is that it is Jesus talking to you!!

Quote 1:- Do not dwell on the past---see I am doing a new thing.

Quote 2:- To enjoy my Presence more fully you need to think less and less about yourself.

Quote 3:- I am worthy of all your confidence.

Quote 4:- I am the Joy that no one can take away

Quote 5:- I am your strength

Quote 6:- Relax my child---I am in control.

There are many more I could quote, but, I would like to leave with you the reading for Friday 22nd May 2020 which says:-

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW!!
This is a most gracious command, I understand human frailty I know that you are dust, this command is not meant to burden you or to condemn you, it is meant to set you free from worldly cares. Just before I gave this directive to my followers I spoke about how to enjoy such freedom. Remember that your Heavenly Father knows what you need! As you seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness your perspective changes. Worldly pursuits become secondary to matters of unseen, Eternal reality-----The Advancement of My Kingdom.

So, put more time and energy into developing your relationship with Me---seeking not only My Presence, but, also My Will. Be ready to follow wherever I lead, I will guide you along adventurous paths that can fill your life with meaning.. I created you to enjoy My Presence in the present (Covid-19 and all) entrusting your future into My Care and Keeping, as you delight yourself in me I give you the desires of your heart!

The Bible References for this are:- Matthew ch 6 v32-34. Psalm 103 v 14. Psalm 37 v 4.

Choruses that came to my mind while studying this reading were:-
Have Faith, Hope and Charity that's the way to live successfully, how do I know? The Bible tells me so.
Don't worry about tomorrow just be real good today the Good Lord will be with you and guide you on your way .

Song:  I Know He Cares For Me
Northern Chorus of The Salvation Army, accompanied by Castleford Citadel Band

Words of the chorus:

I know He cares for me, for me
I know He cares for me, for me
For I trust My Father in Heaven
For I know He cares for me

Note: This series of 'Pause for Thought' started on Monday 4th May.  To find these previous thoughts go to the Archive section of the website listed under the 'more.....' tab at the top of the page. On the 'Daily Pause for Thought' section of the website we will only keep 2 weeks of contributions before putting them into the Archive.

Can you help?

In this current situation when our church doors are closed to our normal activities but our work to support those in need our normal source of funds (Sunday Tithes and Offerings) have reduced dramatically.  We need your help, so that we continue to be ready to meet the ongoing needs of our community that will undoubtedly impact beyond this lock down period.  If you are willing to help please visit our Just Giving Page to make a donation to this work.  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bedfordsa
