Wednesday 29th July - Ann W

Make Me a Better Me

Click on the crest to hear the International Staff Songsters sing 'In This Quiet Moment'
What a beautiful song...slowly breath  in and be conscious of the presence of God as we start this day.   When Phil asked me to prepare a Pause for Thought, I responded I would when God gives me some words to share.  Sometimes God says wait and at other times His response is immediate....this was one of those precious times.  I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen with the soul purpose of putting the kettle on (always a good place to start!) and as I did the words came into my head which you have just listened to...’In this quiet moment.....make a better me’.   I thought there were more verses that I maybe couldn’t remember , but after checking on U Tube and listening to the International Staff Songsters singing the words so beautifully, I realised the words to this song are few but God doesn’t need a lot of verses to bless you and /or challenge you as you listen to a song.  Maybe God has spoken to you while you listened.   I just listened again and God felt so close to me I could reach and almost touch Him.

Maybe you have had more time to be quiet and still during lockdown.  Maybe you have been working or caring for family and friends and the opportunity to be quiet and still is something you could only dream about.  May I suggest, for a few minutes today, find a quiet place , become really conscious of Gods presence with you.

The song goes on to say ‘knowing I am known’.   How reassuring to know , that however you are feeling just now, you are known and precious to our Father God.  We are His precious child and the good father knows what we need to thrive.   He plans for us, in love, yes, even during Covid and lockdown.

How are you feeling today?

I would guess that we have all, at some point over the last 4 months, felt isolated, something we are not used to feeling. I guess we have all missed family and friends. You long for a structured week....or maybe not!   Feeling lonely and at times a bit down, and maybe asking where God is in all this pandemic.   Well be assured and let me remind you of these amazing words to focus on, however you feel today and the great truth ....’You are known’.   Your Father God is with you, He longs to speak with you.  He knows you by name and the same Father who created this world and gave us beautiful creation to enjoy and take care of, wants to take care of you.

‘In THIS quiet moment....make a better me ‘

Keep caring for each other by text, phone calls, emails, we are such a caring church community and thank you because that makes such a difference to peoples day.  Let us care for all of God’s children... to focus more on what the new normal way of doing church will .... It’s time to get out of our boats soon and not to make ripples to rock the boat which is Bedford Salvation Army.

So Lord, may  our prayer today be ‘set my spirit free.....make a better me’
Amen

May this be your quiet moment to come to Father God and seek Him with a heart and mind to be changed....’make a better me’. Listen while Brian Davies and Graham Sapwell play another recording of this same song .....

Note: This series of 'Pause for Thought' started on Monday 4th May.  To find these previous thoughts go to the Archive section of the website listed under the 'more.....' tab at the top of the page. On the 'Daily Pause for Thought' section of the website we will only keep 2 weeks of contributions before putting them into the Archive.

Can you help?

In this current situation when our church doors are closed to our normal activities but our work to support those in need continues, our normal source of funds (Sunday Tithes and Offerings) have reduced dramatically.  We need your help, so that we continue to be ready to meet the ongoing needs of our community that will undoubtedly impact beyond this lock down period.  If you are willing to help please visit our Just Giving Page to make a donation to this work.  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bedfordsa
